Synopsis

Samin (Sedulur Sikep) people are the indigenous people who live in north region of Java Island, more precisely in the Central Java province. Unlike any other indigenous people, Samin people do not live only in a centralized area, but they are spread in some
areas all along the Kendeng mountain range in the north region of Java Island. Samin people have their own unique characteristic which is formed by their culture and it differentiates them from non indigenous people. The culture of Samin people has determined their mindset and creates their own life principles. Samin people actually do not oppose any changes in their life but they tend to set back to their root, their culture, and their way of life which were taught by their ancestors. This kind of characteristics, makes Samin people interesting to be investigated especially related to their food consumption, nutritional, and health.
